Ingredients

  1. 4potatoes, peeled and chopped
  2. 1 tinred kidney beans
  3. 1large onion, diced
  4. 1 tinonion and tomato mix
  5. 2 tbspminced garlic
  6. 3red chillies sliced in half
  7. 1 cupyellow split peas
  8. 2 tbspcanola oil
  9. Spices (rough estimate, make sure to taste half way)
  10. 1 tspcinnamon
  11. 1 tspgaram masala
  12. 2 tbspbriyani curry powder
  13. 5cardamon pods
  14. 1 tbspaniseed
  15. 1 tspyellow mustard seeds
  16. 1 tspblack mustard seeds
  17. to tasteSalt
  18. to tastePepper
  19. To serve with:
  20. to tasteSambals (diced onion, tomato, vinegar and optional diced chilli)
  21. to tasteSliced banana

Steps

  1. 1

    Fry onion and chillies till soft in your pressure cooker

  2. 2

    Add all spices and garlic to roast and release all the goodness

  3. 3

    Add everything else and 3 cups of water

  4. 4

    Bring to the boil and then close pressure cooker

  5. 5

    Lower heat to medium

  6. 6

    After about 45 mins check it and add more water if needed

  7. 7

    Once peas are soft, serve with sambals and banana
