Mr. Meaty Patty
I've tasted many a burger patty. Plenty from fast food establishments, plenty from restaurants. However I haven't really put much of an effort into a homemade burger. So this recipe will focus on the sole element of a hamburger, the patty.
Mr. Meaty Patty
I've tasted many a burger patty. Plenty from fast food establishments, plenty from restaurants. However I haven't really put much of an effort into a homemade burger. So this recipe will focus on the sole element of a hamburger, the patty.
Steps
- 1
First comes the prep. Finely chop the onion and place in a separate bowl.
- 2
Beat the 3 eggs in a separate mixing bowl, preferably with a mixer if you have one until frothy.
- 3
Place the mince meat into a large mixing bowl. Then mix the onions with the mince. For mixing I used a wooden spoon.
- 4
Once the onions are mixed in, add all the spices and sauces together and mix well.
- 5
Add the 3 eggs to the mix. This will keep the patty together when you form it as well as fry.
- 6
OPTIONAL: If you have a mixer with dough hooks, this can make the mixing A LOT easier and more refined.
- 7
Let the meat mix settle for about 10 minutes. While you're at it, preheat a pan at medium heat then use a non-stick spray for frying.
- 8
Once the meat has settled and the pan is hot and ready, lay a sheet of foil and spray non-stick spray on it. This is where you'll form the patty to whatever size or thickness you desire. Remember, thinner = quicker cooking but more susceptible to breaking. Thicker = less susceptible to breaking but longer cooking times.
- 9
Now fry the patty on both sides for about 5 minutes each (Why so long you ask? Because there's raw onions in the patty. Preferably it should be 2 minutes a side depending on thickness without the onions)
- 10
And there you have it! Feel free to have the patty in a burger as pictured or have it with more healthier options. Depends on you! There is a hearty flavour to this patty with the spices and sauces used here but feel free to adjust them to your liking.
