Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine all ingredients for the meatballs in a large bowl and mix until meat mixture is just combined with all the ingredients.
- 2
Form your meatballs and place on foil lined baking sheet. I used an 1-ounce scoop and made 2 meatballs out of each scoop; about the size of a heaping teaspoon. Bake for 20-25 mins.
- 3
Combine all ingredients for the sauce in a small saucepan and whisk until thickened, about 5 mins. Pour over meatballs and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve with white rice.

I love sweet n' sour, but my husband is picky about it. This is one way I can get him to eat it. Lol. I make this dish with fewer meatballs so it's on the saucy side then save the extra sauce for sweet n' sour chicken a couple nights later. StephieCanCook -
Chicken & Pork Meatballs! Sweet and Sour Sauce Chicken & Pork Meatballs! Sweet and Sour Sauce
I saw some ground chicken breast on sale! Chicken has a pretty light flavor to it, so when I decided to change half of the meat to pork, I ended up with especially tasty meatballs! This meaty and hearty dish lets you enjoy the taste of chicken without the greasiness of an all-pork recipe. If you like your meatballs chock-full of meat, reduce the amount of onions. If your onion seems to be on the watery side, make sure to squeeze the moisture out after chopping. After pouring the sauce onto the meatballs, simmer well to get rid of the acidity from the ketchup and vinegar. These are also good without doubanjiang! Sweet and Sour Pork Style Meatballs with Thick Sweet-Vinegar Sauce Sweet and Sour Pork Style Meatballs with Thick Sweet-Vinegar Sauce
I don't like sweet and sour pork made with deep fried pork, so at some point I started using easy to make meatballs instead. I've also settled on this light soy sauce flavored sauce rather than the usual ketchup flavored one.*Adjust the amount of meatballs you add to taste.*By mixing the katakuriko with the flavoring ingredients beforehand, you can prevent lumps from forming in the sauce.
