Sweet N Smoky BBQ Sauce

I created this sauce to accompany a pulled pork recipe I created from the ground up. I figured if the framework is self made, then we gotta top it off appropriately! No store bought bbq would do for the effort I put into my pork! It needed customization. Lol. Using ketchup with no high fructose corn syrup is not only better for you, but it's necessary for a good texture to your sauce as well.

Steps

  1. 1

Combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pan. If you have any clumps of brown sugar smash them with the back of your spoon against the sides of the sauce pan.

  2. 2

Bring sauce to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to medium low and let simmer for 20 minutes uncovered to reduce and thicken, again stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

Turn off heat and set pan aside to allow sauce to cool completely, it will get even thicker as it cools. Transfer to an air tight container and store in your fridge. Use on all your favorite bbq, but this sauce was created specifically for my pulled pork recipe. Yum!

Cooking is a hobby and a passion of mine. I love cooking and trying new and different things. The best thing about cooking? I get to prepare delicious food for my family and friends that they (almost) always love! Lol.Many of my recipes are experiments in what I could make with what was available at the time. Many are simply my version of classic and/or popular dishes. A few are variations of recipes I have found elsewhere online but adjusted to our tastes. No matter what, though, each of my recipes is tried and tested before posting and I hope you find as much joy in preparing them as I do.
