The tendency today is toward highly seasoned, bold flavors. This is more subtle. If you want to kick it up a notch, add more cumin and garlic, but if you do, also increase the maple syrup to balance the sweetness of the carrots with the spices

1/2 tspminced garlic
2 tbspolive oil
3 tbsphoney or maple syrup
1 cuplow sodium chicken broth
salt

Heat olive oil. Add cinnamon, garlic and cumin. Cook for 1 minute.. Add carrots, syrup, and chicken broth. Season lightly with salt. Bring to a slow simmer. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until liquid is absorbed and carrots are tender.
