Steps
- 1
Mix the sugar into the warm water until dissolved. Add the yeast and olive oil to the mixture and stir. Set aside until foamy.
- 2
In a large bowl, add the flour and salt. Herbs such as oregano and basil can be added. Stir to combine.
- 3
Add the yeast mixture to the flour and combine with your hand until dough forms and it's no longer sticky.
- 4
Knead the dough on a floured surface until springy and smooth.
- 5
Place the dough back in the large bowl, cover and set aside to rise for about an hour.
- 6
Once it has doubled in size, knock back the dough.
- 7
Using half the dough, form a pizza crust as thin or thick as preferred. The other half can be used for anther pizza or a pepperoni roll or put in the refrigerator for later use.
- 8
Top your pizza with desired sauce and toppings. Or for a pepperoni roll: Put pepperoni and cheese on top of the pizza dough. Roll and seal the seams. Brush the top with a beaten egg.
- 9
Bake at 200°C for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
