Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 cupMilk
  2. 1/2 cupSugar
  3. 2 packagesActive Dry Yeast
  4. 1 pinchSalt
  5. 1/2 cupWarm, not hot water
  6. 7 cupTo 71/2 Cup of Sifted Flour
  7. 2Eggs
  8. 1/2 cupMargarine or butter

Cooking Instructions

    Scald milk

  2. 2

    Add sugar and salt to milk and then cool to Lukewarm

  3. 3

    Dissolve yeast in warm, not hot water; add to lukewarm milk mixture

  4. 4

    Add 3 cups flour and stir until smooth

  5. 5

    Add eggs and softened margarine or butter; beat until smooth

  6. 6

    Gradually add remaining flour mixing well after each addition.

    Turn dough out onto lightly floured board

    Knead until smooth and elastic, approx 10min

  9. 9

    Place in greased bowl.

    Cover and let rise in warm place, free from draft, until doubled in bulk. About 11/2 to 2 hours

    Punch down

  12. 12

    Let rise again until doubled, about another 35-45min

    Punch down and turn out onto board

    Cover dough and let rest 15min

    Roll dough 1/4in thick. Cut with biscuit cutter

    Cover and let rise in warm place for 15-20 min

    Brush with melted margarine or butter

  18. 18

    Place close together on greased pan.

    Bake 425°F 12-15min

  20. 20

    Remove from oven and brush with margarine or butter
