Ingredients

  1. Black gram - 1 cup
  2. Bay leaf - 1
  3. 1Finely chopped onion -
  4. 1 tspMustard oil -
  5. 1/2 tspWhole cumin seeds -
  6. 1/4 tspAsafoetida -
  7. 1/2 tspTurmeric powder -
  8. to tasteSalt -
  9. For gravy
  10. Black gram water - 2 cup
  11. 1 tbspJaggery -
  12. 1 tspCoriander powder -
  13. 1/2 tspGaram masala powder -
  14. 2 tspAmchur/dry mango powder -
  15. 1 tspRed chilli powder -
  16. Gramflour - 1 tsp

Steps

  1. 1

    Take black gram,turmeric powder and water and pressure cook.

  2. 2

    Once cooled reserve the water and keep aside black gram.

  3. 3

    Add jaggery,garam masala powder,gram flour,coriander powder and amchur in the reserve water of black gram.

  4. 4

    Add asafoetida,bay leaf,black mustard seeds and cumin seeds to crackle.

  5. 5

    Add onion and salt and saute for two mins.

  6. 6

    Add black gram reserved water.

  7. 7

    Add black gram and cook for ten mins.

  8. 8

    Serve hot.
