Line baking tray with greaseproof paper, Preheat oven to gas mark 5

Beat/cream together the butter and sugars

Beat in the vanilla extract and egg until you have a creamy texture

Sieve in the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt. Stir until you can't see the flour anymore

Stir in the chocolate chips

Teaspoon the mixture; well apart on the baking tray (you may need to pat mixture down to flatten it a little)

Bake in the oven for 10 minutes, until light brown on the edges but soft in the middle.

Leave on baking tray for a few minutes to firm up

Transfer onto cooling rack
