In a small bowl stir together the sugar and cinnamon and set aside

Stir together all the dry ingredients for the cookie dough

In a bowl, cream the butter

Add the sugar and continue to mix

Add the eggs corn syrup and vanilla and mix thoroughly

Add the dry ingredients and mix until blended

Chill the dough for 1 hour if it's sticky a difficult to handle

Roll balls of cookie dough about the size of a walnut then rolled them in the cinnamon sugar topping mixture to coat

Place on and ungreased cookie sheet pan 2 and a half inches apart

Big for 10 or 12 minutes until puffed up and the surface is slightly cracked

Let cool on the sheet pan for a few minutes before removing to a wire rack
