Gur Misti Mukh is nothing but a beautiful combination of #Gur #Jaggery and tomato with some dry fruits. It is a great blend of both sweet and spicy flavours. I learned this dish from my Mamuni and Babai. Khichuri, and Tomato Chutney is compulsory at the time of puja in every bengali home. #Gur(Jaggery) is found at the time of winter. So you can use sugar in the place of Jaggery. But I must say Jaggery is the King of this recipe and Tomato is the queen.
So lets not waste time any further and begin with the recipe.

Ingredients

  1. 1Bay Leaf
  2. 1 Tea SpoonBengali 5 Spices
  3. 1Dry Red Chilli
  4. 2 CupOf Chopped Tomatoes
  5. 10 gOf Kaju
  6. 10 gOf Kismis
  7. 100 gJaggery
  8. 1 Tea SpoonTurmeric Powder
  9. 1 Tea SpoonKashmiri Mirch
  10. Salt
  11. Oil
  12. 2 tea spoonPoppy Seeds

Steps

25 minutes
  1. 1

    Heat oil in a kadai(wok). Now temper it with bay leaf, dry red chilli, 5 spices. Stir for 1 minute.

    Now add the Chopped Tomatoes and all the spices lik Turmeric powder, salt, and kashmiri mirch. Saute it very well and cover and stir occasionally in medium flame till the tomato gets mushy.

    Now add 1 and half cup of water, kaju, kismis,poppy seeds. Cover the pan and cook it till the water is reduced to half.

    Now add the Gur (Jaggery) and stir continuously till the jaggery gets dissolve and you get the desired consistency.
