Ingredients

  • Prune Cake
  • 1 cupSugar
  • 3/4 cupShortening
  • 2Eggs
  • 2 canBaby prunes
  • 1 1/2 cupFlour
  • 1 1/2 tspBaking soda
  • 3/4 tspCinnamon
  • 3/4 tspGround cloves
  • 1/2 tspSalt
  • 1/2 cupNuts
  • 1/2 cupMilk
  • Icing
  • 3/4 cupBrown sugar
  • 1/4 cupCream or canned milk
  • 6 tbspButter
  • 1/2 tspVanilla
  • 1 cupChopped nuts

Steps

  1. 1

    Cream sugar and shortening together.

  2. 2

    Add eggs and prunes.

  3. 3

    Sift together flour, spices, baking soda and salt.

  4. 4

    Blend into creamed mixture.

  5. 5

    Add milk and nuts.

  6. 6

    Bake in 9"x13" pan for 30 minutes at 350°F.

  7. 7

    For icing: Melt butter, add sugar and cream. Add vanilla and nuts. Spread over the whole cake while cake and frosting are still warm.
