old fashion buttermilk biscuits

absolutly the best biscuits i have ever had.and i have been trying everything to make a good biscuit.i modified recipe a little i used butter instead of shorting and i didnt melt it i ixed in the flour like always using very cold butter.and coated pan with shortning not melted.plus had to add more buttermilk just a small amount.but absolutly the most most and delishous biscuits ever.and leftovers are just as good cold.i cant help nbut grab one each time i walk by.

preheat oven to 450 f, melt shortning in ovenproof skillet (i used cast iron)

mix flour,baking powder,baking soda,salt in a bowl add buttermilk mix well add melted shortning make in to a soft dough with out over working or kneading it very light hands.

shape dough in to balls place in skillet turning over to coat with shortning, flatten lightly.
