
Caramel Apple Pie
A delicious apple pie that's packed full of flavour. Pouring the sauce over the crust causes it to caramelize while it bakes, and by using a lattice, some of the sauce drips down into the apples as well.

Brown butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour to form a roux. Add sugars, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, and water/apple juice. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 3-5 mins, stirring occasionally. Stir in vanilla and remove from heat. Set aside.

Combine apple slices and cinnamon-sugar in a large bowl and mix until fully coated.

Press bottom crust into the pie pan. Fill with apples. Cover with a latticework crust. Pour caramel sauce over top of the pie.

Bake for 15 mins at 425°F. Reduce heat to 350°F and continue baking for 30-45 mins.
