Ingredients

  1. 1 tbspghee
  2. 3bay leaves
  3. 1cinnamon stick
  4. 1/2 cuponion - chopped
  5. 1/2 tbspginger garlic paste
  6. 1 tbspwater
  7. 1 tbspcashew paste
  8. 500 gramchicken
  9. 1 cupwater
  10. 1 tspsalt
  11. 2 tbspcream
  12. 4green chillies – slitted
  13. 2 tbspcoriander leaves - chopped
  14. 2 tbsphung curd
  15. 1 tbspcream
  16. 1 tspsaffron milk
  17. To make paste
  18. 8-10dry red chillies
  19. 2 tbspdry coconut
  20. 1 tsppoppy seeds
  21. 1 tspcumin seeds
  22. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  23. 4cloves
  24. 4-5green cardamom

Steps

  1. 1

    Grind all the ingredients mentioned under paste into a fine paste.

  2. 2

    Extract the milk from the soaked coconut and set aside.

  3. 3

    Heat the saffron for 2 seconds and soak in hot milk.

  4. 4

    Heat ghee, add bay leaf, cinnamon stick to it. Add the onions and fry them till it is golden-brown. Add the ginger-garlic paste and fry for a couple of minutes.

  5. 5

    Add the ground paste and saute well.

  6. 6

    Add cashew nut paste and cook.

  7. 7

    Add the chicken pieces and 1/2 a cup of water and continue cooking, for approximately minutes, over a low heat. When the chicken is almost cooked, add the coconut milk, green chillies, coriander leaves and yoghurt.

  8. 8

    Cook till the chicken is tender.

  9. 9

    Add the cream and saffron and simmer for 2 minutes.
