Present heat oven at 80°C for 40 minutes.

Stone dates. Chop it into small pieces. Soak the chopped dates in sufficient boiling water to cover the dates. Add 1/2 teaspoon of cooking soda. Cover and let it stand.

Cream butter and sugar till the sugar has completely melted.

Add an egg at a time and cream. I used a hand beater.

Add the flour and baking powder to the butter egg mix.

Once the above are well combined, mix in the dates with a fork.

Add the walnuts.

Pour batter into a greased and dusted tin.

Bake for 45 minutes or more till a toothpick inserted comes out dry at 350°F or 180° Celsius.
