Cover bottom of pan with oil

Throw one chopped onion into the pan

Sauté the onion until soft

(Optional) add desired meat

Add two cans of crushed tomatoes

Fill each can half way full with water, then add to the pan

Add the salt

Add the sugar

Bring the sauce to a boil with top off, on medium high heat

Cover the sauce and put on low simmer for two hours
