I learnt how to cook this literally on my mother's lap, they were and always remain a treat. For me they symbolize a special day.When I woke and found mum making these, I would know that it was a special day.

I learnt how to cook this literally on my mother's lap, they were and always remain a treat. For me they symbolize a special day.When I woke and found mum making these, I would know that it was a special day.

1. Sift sugar, flour and baking powder.

Run in the margarine or oil or butter till your mixture resembles bread crumbs.

Make a well in the centre of your flour mixture and add in the milk till you make a soft dough. Knead until elastic.

Cover your dough and keep in warm place, this dough keeps well even for next day.

Next, roll dough to a quarter inch thickness and use a cookie cutter for whatever shape you desire. Reserve scraps and knead again. You can use a knife to cut the last bits of the dough.

Heat oil and now fry your dough pieces. Enjoy.
