Ingredients

  1. 19inch pie crust (chocolate)
  2. 1/4 cupunsalted butter
  3. 3 ouncesbittersweet chocolate chips
  4. 4large eggs. (room temp)
  5. 1/2 cupwater
  6. 1 3/4 cupssugar
  7. 1tblesp + 1 tsp molasses
  8. 1/2 tspvanilla extract
  9. 1/2 tspsalt
  10. 1tblesp rum. (optional)
  11. 2 1/2 cupspecans halves

    PREHEAT OVEN TO 325°

  2. 2

    Prepare or thaw 9inch pie crust

  3. 3

    Melt butter and chocolate chips over low heat set aside

  4. 4

    In separate bowl whisk together eggs and water until well mixed.
    Whisk in sugar, molasses, vanilla, salt and rum
    Whisk in melted butter-melted chocolate chips

  5. 5

    Arrange ⅔ of pecans on bottom of pie crust and pour ¾ of filling over pecans
    Pecans will float to top of mixture
    Arrange remaining pecans on top of floating pecans
    Than pour remaining filling over pecans

  6. 6

    PLACE IN OVEN AND BAKE UNTIL FILLING IS SET AND SLIGHTLY PUFFED, ABOUT 50 MINUTES
