It tastes delicious!!! Even though it doesn't taste like the Bbq sauces you buy at the supermarket. 😊

Ingredients

10 mins
5 servings
  1. 1/2Yellow or White onion (minced)
  2. 1/2Bell pepper (color of desire and minced)
  3. 1 tspGround garlic
  4. 1/2 tspChicken base
  5. 1 pinchItalian red pepper or Chili powder
  6. 1 cupKetchup
  7. 1/2 cupTomato sauce
  8. 1/2 tspBrown sugar
  9. 1 cupBrewed coffee (black)
  10. 1 tspCooking oil
  11. Salt (as desire)
  12. 1 tbspYellow mustard (optional)

Cooking Instructions

10 mins
  1. 1

In a cooking pot with oil, saute the onion. Then add the bell pepper, saute a little bit, and let it simmer in a medium temperature.

  2. 2

When the onion looks caramelized, add the ground garlic, Italian pepper and chicken base. Saute to mix it all and let simmer for about a minute.

  3. 3

Then pour the ketchup and the tomato sauce and stir evenly.

  4. 4

Add the brown sugar and stir. If you want to add mustard, this is the time. Let it simmer for about 1or 2 minutes.

  5. 5

Pour the cup of coffee in the sauce and stir. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
Taste the sauce to add salt. Basically it doesn't need salt but some people like sauces a bit strong. If this is your case, season as desire.

  6. 6

Remove from the burner and let the sauce sit for a couples of minutes.

Great with spare ribs and pork chops.

    Enjoy!!!

Hi. My name is Milena. I'm a chef from Puerto Rico. I love cooking. My style is simple. I try not to make my recipes complicated because I'm the daughter of a busy mother who hadn't the time to cook anything fancy. I know there's a lot mothers and fathers out there with the same dilemma, so I mantain my recipes as simple and short as possible.
