  • Jaggery (or dark brown sugar)
  • Sesame seeds

Steps

  1. 1

Grind glutinous rice or buy pre-ground glutinous rice flour at the store. For best flavor and a whiter color, use high-quality glutinous rice and grind it yourself, as store-bought flour may not be as fragrant or produce as white a dough.

  2. 2

Roll the dough into long ropes, then pinch off small pieces.

  3. 3

Place a piece of jaggery (or dark brown sugar) in the center of each piece and shape into a ball.

  4. 4

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Drop the rice balls into the boiling water. When they float to the surface, they are cooked.

  5. 5

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the rice balls before serving.
