Ingredients

3 servings
  1. 6 piecesChicken leg
  2. 2 cinnamon sticks
  3. 4cloves
  4. 4cardamoms
  5. 6 wholepepper corns,
  6. 1 pinchwhite cumin seeds
  7. 1 mace crushed
  8. 1 pinch white pepper
  9. 4Whole dried red chillies or according to spice level
  10. 1onion sliced
  11. 1 tablespoonGinger garlic paste
  12. 2 tablespoonsplain yoghurt
  13. 1 tablespooncashew paste
  14. 1 tablespoonwhile garam masala powder
  15. 1 teaspoonrose water
  16. 1 cupfull fat milk
  17. 1 teaspoonghee or to taste
  18. to tasteSalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Dry roast the whole garam masala in a skillet and grind to a fine powder.

  2. 2

    Add 1 tablespoon oil or ghee in a pan.

  3. 3

    Add the sliced onions.

  4. 4

    Add salt.

  5. 5

    Fry the onions until they become translucent.

  6. 6

    Make a fine paste of the fried onions with yogurt.

  7. 7

    Break and Add 2 dried cinnamon sticks, 4 Cardamom pods, 4 pepper corns, 4 cloves and the dried red chillies to the same oil.

    Add the chicken pieces and fry them with salt until they turn slightly golden brown

  9. 9

    Add the ginger garlic paste

  10. 10

    Add the onion paste

  11. 11

    Add 1 teaspoon of the ground whole garam masala powder.

    Add cashew paste

  13. 13

    Fry well until the the mixture starts releasing oil

  14. 14

    Add half a cup of boiling water and cover. Let the chicken cook

  15. 15

    Once the chicken is tender, open the lid and add the milk under low flame

  16. 16

    Mix and let it boil on high flame

  17. 17

    Once a thick consistency is reached turn off the stove

  18. 18

    Add the rest of the garam masala powder and 1 teaspoon rose water

  19. 19

    Mix well and add ghee on the top

  20. 20

    Serve hot with Pulao or paratha
