Ingredients

  1. For Daal:
  2. 1 cupMoong Daal
  3. 1.1/2 cupWater
  4. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  5. to tasteSalt
  6. For Spinach or Palak masala:
  7. 1 cupFinely chopped spinach or palak
  8. 4Finely chopped garlic
  9. 1Finely chopped green chilli
  10. 1/2 tspCoriander powder
  11. 1/2 tspSabzi Masala
  12. 1 tspRoasted cumin powder
  13. 1 tspCumin seeds
  14. 1 tbspOil
  15. to tasteSalt
  16. 1Juice of lemon

Steps

  1. 1

    For Daal:
    Pressure cooker Daal with 1 & 1/2 cups of water, a little salt, turmeric and cook it for 1 whistle medium heat. Let the pressure go down by itself, open the cover and keep the dal aside.

    For Spinach or Palak Masala:

    Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Allow it to crackle.
    Add garlic and green chilli, cook for 1 minute. Then add chopped spinach or palak.

  3. 3

    Add coriander powder, sabzi masala and cook it for 5 minutes.
    Add cooked dal and mix well. Let it come to boil and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
    Finally, add lemon juice and sprinkle some roasted cumin powder. Serve hot with rice or chapatis.
