Onigiri (Rice Ball) with Fried Egg Onigiri (Rice Ball) with Fried Egg
I make onigiri every day for my husband to take to work for breakfast.I was just thinking of ways of varying the onigiri so that he doesn't get too bored.I tend to make pretty big onigiri, so if you prefer smaller ones, you can make 2 onigiri with 1 egg. For 1 rice ball. Recipe by Makirin cookpad.japan -

Miso Egg Soboro for your Bento and Onigiri Miso Egg Soboro for your Bento and Onigiri
Our canteen lady used to make this very often when I lived in company housing. The soboro was sandwiched with rice so it was very satisfying.I don't use any oil with this dish, so use a non-stick frying pan.Use 2 pairs of chopsticks to stir the egg mixture. The bigger the gaps between the chopsticks are, the larger the soboro grains become. Recipe by Shijimi24 cookpad.japan -

Fish Patty Onigiri Sandwich Fish Patty Onigiri Sandwich
The spam onigiri at the store is 210 yen for one piece, so I thought up a way to make my own.The vinegar of the sushi rice is good for your health!Rather than fish sausages, I recommend you use fish patties. It'd also be great with some lettuce.I made it with sushi rice, but it's probably pretty good to have with regular rice as well. Recipe by Suekei cookpad.japan -

Meat Wrapped Onigiri Rice Balls using Shabu-Shabu Pork Slices Meat Wrapped Onigiri Rice Balls using Shabu-Shabu Pork Slices
I wanted to make hearty and filling onigiri that would be satisfying even when there aren't a lot of side dishes in the bento box.If you roll the meat wrapped rice balls around while the meat is uncooked it will fall off, so cook it one section at a time. When all sides are browned, it's ok to roll them around. If you clean the frying pan with paper towels once the meat is cooked before adding the flavoring ingredients, the rice balls won't burn so easily. Recipe by ss mama cookpad.japan -
Charaben - Easy Chestnut-Shaped Onigiri Charaben - Easy Chestnut-Shaped Onigiri
I used to cover the bottom of the onigiri with black sesame seeds, but that wasn't working too well, so I changed to using nori seaweed. It looks like a chestnut now, so I uploaded the recipe. When shaping the onigiri, make the top pointy and the bottom round and fat to make it look like a chestnut.Cut the nori seaweed in whichever way you like in Step 4. Small children may find a big piece of nori hard to eat, so I recommend a smaller onigiri made with the nori on the right. For 1 rice bowl worth (about 150g). Recipe by Kohanemi cookpad.japan -
"Samurai Warrior" Shiso and Meat Wrapped Onigiri "Samurai Warrior" Shiso and Meat Wrapped Onigiri
This is an original recipe I made based on an onigiri lunch sold at a certain convenience store chain. If you didn't have a chance to have those convenience store onigiri (they were time and region limited), please get a taste of them with this version.I used 20 pork belly slices that were 2 cm wide and 30 cm long. I used 2 slices per onigiri. Wrap up the onigiri so that you can't see the rice - this is the key to preventing the balls from falling apart while cooking. Recipe by vegeful cookpad.japan
