Ingredients

  • 1 cupbasmati rice
  • to tasteSalt
  • 2-3clovec(laung)
  • 2-3green cardamom (elaichi)
  • 2-3Whole black pepper (sabut kali mirch)
  • 6-7medium onions thinly sliced
  • 3-4spring onion (chopped)
  • 1 tspginger garlic paste
  • 1 tspgreen chillie paste
  • 1 tspshahi jeera
  • 1/2 tspblack pepper
  • to tasteSalt
  • 2 tbsplemon juice
  • 2-3dry lal mirch (sabut)
  • 1bay leaf
  • 1/2 tspgaram masala
  • 2 tbspghee/oil
  • 1 tbspgreen onion leaves for garnish
  • 1 tspcoriander leaves

Steps

  1. 1

    Take a boil water add cloves, elaichi,whole black pepper and salt

  2. 2

    Then add rice cook it till it is 70-75% cooked and drain the excess water

  3. 3

    Then prepare the onions

  4. 4

    Heat ghee/oil in a pan add shahi jeera, bay leaf, dry lal mirch

  5. 5

    Add ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste saute for a min..then add the thinly sliced onions,springs onions and fry them till they are golden brown

  6. 6

    Now add salt,black pepper and lemon juice mix them for 2-3 mins

  7. 7

    Now the first layer of cooked onions at the bottom of the pan then add a layer of rice and again the layer of cooked onions

  8. 8

    Then seal the pan tightly with aluminium foil and place a heavy lid on top

  9. 9

    Cook the biryani on medium heat for 5-10 mins

  10. 10

    Garnish with coriander leaves and green onion leaves..serve with coriander mint chutney
