Ingredients

2-3 hours
10 servings
  1. 2 kgBeef Chunks
  2. 1 packetbiryani spice mix
  3. 1 teaspoonmild and spicy curry powder
  4. 1 teaspoonground cumin
  5. 1 teaspoongaram masala
  6. 1 teaspoonPortuguese Spice
  7. 1Beef stock cube
  8. 1 teaspoonGarlic and ginger
  9. 2large potatoes, peeled and diced
  10. 1large onion, chopped
  11. 2large tomatoes, chopped
  12. 1 tubnatural yoghurt
  13. 3 tablespoonsoil
  14. 4-5 cupscooked rice

Steps

  1. 1

    In a large saucepan, heat oil on high heat add the beef chunks, fry until they are brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  2. 2

    In the same saucepan, sauté the onions. Add garlic and ginger, all the spices, including the biryani mix, stirring constantly.

  3. 3

    Add the chopped tomatoes and stir. Add a little water and yoghurt, cover the saucepan and simmer on medium heat to a nice thick sauce.

  4. 4

    Add the beef, mix thoroughly, and simmer further until the meat is almost tender. Stirring occasionally. Finally stir in the potatoes and cook until meat and potatoes and tender.

  5. 5

    Lower the heat. Pour the cooked rice into the meat sauce and fold in together in one pot, make sure everything is incorporated.
