Before I go to my next recipe, I’d like to introduce the most essential ingredient that I use a lot. ‘Agar powder’ is a gelatinous substance that is originally made from seaweed. It needs to be brought to boil in order for the setting to occur. It is low in saturated fat and cholesterol but high in calcium, folate, iron, and vitamins among others. It is ideal for people interested in weight loss and maintaining good health. (Source: Wikipedia) You can easily buy this item in the local Chinese markets. It’s quite different from gelatin or jello which are sold in the supermarkets. The texture of agar agar is stiffer and less chewy than gelatin or jello.
