Cooking Instructions
- 1
If you rinse plum, remove any water.
- 2
Remove stem end. (Use toothpicks.)
- 3
Add plums and sugar alternately in a sanitized jar.
- 4
Store the jar in a cool & dark place for 1 month. Shake the jar occasionally. (Don’t open the lid!)
- 5
After a month, it’s time to open the lid. Take plums out. Heat syrup in a pan and bring to boiling.
- 6
Once boiled, add the syrup into a sanitized jar and store in fridge. (Nice golden color!)
- 7
Enjoy with cold water or sparkling water (syrup : water = 1 : 5). Over shaved ice is also a good idea. (You don’t have to dilute!)

Refreshing and Jelly-Like Ume Plum Jam Refreshing and Jelly-Like Ume Plum Jam
There are many ways to make ume plum jam, such as adding the sugar at the start and simmering the whole plums but if you do that, you may throw out some of the sugar with the stones, and it also makes it harder to pass the jam through a sieve. If you use this method, I think you only need to cook the jam for the minimum amount of time, and you'll also only add the minimal amount of sugar. I simmered the jam 500 g at a time in an enameled pan. This cuts down on the overall cooking time, and I had jam in two colors, which made me happy.Change the water 3 to 4 times for hard green plums, and 2 to 3 times for ripe plums, and they will become tender. Don't bring the water to a boil to prevent the plum skins from ripping. Add 70 to 80% of the weight of the plums in sugar. I think it's best to add more than 350g of sugar for every 500g of green plums. This jam becomes quite stiff when cold. When it changes color after 15 minutes of simmering and becomes thick and limpid, try dropping some of the jam in cold water. If it stiffens up it's done. Recipe by commeline cookpad.japan -

Umeshu Plum Jam Umeshu Plum Jam
I make jam to use up my plums leftover from making umeshu. It's easy to make and it's packed with plenty of umeshu flavor. For this recipe I used our family's umeshu, using plums from a 3-year-vintage batch. In Step 2, they can be roughly chopped as shown. They will soften and become syrupy once heated. In Step 5, if you overcook the jam, it will harden when it cools, so be careful. The alcohol will remain after cooking, so this is not to be served to children. Easy Homemade 'Kuromitsu' Brown Sugar Syrup Easy Homemade 'Kuromitsu' Brown Sugar Syrup
In the summertime, I often want to eat kanten (agar-agar) jellies.I received lump brown sugar as a gift, so I referred to a cookbook from Okinawa to make this syrup. When reducing the syrup, take care not to let it boil over. If you let the syrup burn, it will become bitter, so keep mixing as you simmer. For people who wrote in concerned about the syrup crystallizing while chilling, the syrup was OK for 10 days. For an easy to make amount. Recipe by tearstar cookpad.japan -

California Farm Peach Syrup California Farm Peach Syrup
Go to your local farmers market to find the juiciest peaches available, donut peaches and white peaches are the choice here in California. Peach syrup is a great way to add fresh peach flavor to breakfasts, desserts and for baking in winter. The high sugar content prevents the syrup from turning hard in the freezer, handy to use.#GlobalCookpadGames2024 Hobby Horseman -
Foolproof Ume Plum Compote Foolproof Ume Plum Compote
I wanted to make beautiful looking kanroni (syrup preserve) or compote.I don't have any special hints, but if the water is not boiling hot the bitterness will not come out properly.Be really, really, really careful handing the softened ume plums .I tried making these with yellow ripe ume plums, but they were even harder to handle. If they bump together even a bit, they will fall apart! Recipe by Rinrin523 cookpad.japan -
Salt-Preserved Cherry Blossoms (in Plum Vinegar) Salt-Preserved Cherry Blossoms (in Plum Vinegar)
This year, for the first time, I created dishes using pickled cherry blossoms. Since I wanted to make my own, I had my mother teach me.Use cherry blossoms that have blossomed 50 to 70 percent. If they are fully blossomed, the petals will come off. The ingredient amounts are approximate. Start with a layer of salt, alternate with the petals, and finish with the salt in the end. Once the cherry blossoms are salt-packed in the jar, fill it with enough plum vinegar to cover. For 1 jam jar. Recipe by Kazapi- cookpad.japan
