Ingredients

25 minutes
4 servings
  1. 1/2 kgsea fish
  2. 3-4kudam Puli (cocum)
  3. 1 cup+4 tbsp warm water
  4. 7-8shallots (pearl onions) chopped)
  5. 1/2 teaspoonturmeric
  6. 2-2.5 tbspred chilli powder
  7. 1/4 teaspoonfenugreek seeds
  8. 1.5 tbspcrushed garlic
  9. 1.5 tbspcrushed ginger
  10. 1/2 teaspoonmustard seeds
  11. 15-16curry leaves
  12. to tasteSalt
  13. 3.5 tbspcoconut oil
  14. as neededEarthen vessel for cooking

Steps

25 minutes
  1. 1

    Soak kudam Puli in 4 tbsp warm water for 30 minutes

  2. 2

    Grind ginger garlic to paste

  3. 3

    Heat 2.5 tbsp oil in earthen vessel, splutter mustard seeds

  4. 4

    Add fenugreek seeds and saute until golden brown

  5. 5

    Add ginger garlic paste and shallots with curry leaves. Saute until onions are golden brown

  6. 6

    Add turmeric and red chilli powder. Mix well

  7. 7

    Add kudam Puli water to the vessel, salt and 1 cup water. Mix well

  8. 8

    Add 1 piece of kudam Puli to curry. Bring to boil

  9. 9

    Add fish to curry. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes over low heat

  10. 10

    Add 1 tbsp coconut oil and garnish with curry leaves. Serve hot with steamed rice
