Cube Steak & Gravy Instant Pot IP

Had some cubed steak, was looking at various regular and instant pot recipes. Nothing really struck my fancy so I took the technique and some bits and pieces from a variety of recipes and put this one together. It actually turned out very good and my wife loved it so that's always a plus 😊 this was a real good match with the cauliflower potato mash in another recipe here. Ingredients

2-3 servings
  1. Dredge
  2. 1/2 cupflour (ap)
  3. 1 tsp.Salt
  4. 1 tsp.Pepper
  5. 2 tsp.Garlic powder
  6. 1/4-1/2 tsp.Cayenne (optional)
  7. Main
  8. 3/4 poundscube steak
  9. 1gravy packet
  10. 1/2large onion
  11. 1 tsp.Salt
  12. 1 tsp.Pepper
  13. 1/4-1/2 tsp.Cayenne (optional)
  14. 1 1/2-2 cupsbroth

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Mix dredge ingredients in whatever container you wish.

  2. 2

Cut your cube steak how you like, I like bite sized pieces.

  3. 3

I just toss it in the dredge until coated.

  4. 4

Chop half an onion, I like this long, but do what you like.

  5. 5

    Set your IP to saute

  6. 6

Add 2-3 Tbl. Oil to the liner. Once hot, put in your floured meat and brown it.

  7. 7

Once your meat is just browned, add your onions.

  8. 8

Keep stirring until the onions just turn a little

  9. 9

I happened to buy this gravy, use what you like.

  10. 10

Add your gravy and broth to the mix in the liner. Give it a stir.

  11. 11

Set your IP to pressure cook for 15 minutes

  12. 12

Quick Release (QR) pressure when time is up

  13. 13

Stir the contents, check the gravy. You may add a corn starch slurry now, if you want it thicker, or take a stick blender to it if that's the way you roll. Mine was thinner than I like, but my wife requested thinner gravy this go round, she won 😉

  14. 14

We served this with a potato and cauliflower mash which is posted also.

My wife is disabled, she has M.S. And she finds it hard to cook from her wheelchair. I like a variety of foods, but hate tomatoes, so you don't see too many of my recipes with tomatoes on them. Also both of us have type II diabetes, so high carb and sweet is usually not on the menu either. We have one married daughter, and one that now lives in the Seattle area. We live in Texas, USA with our two dogs.Sorry I have not posted in awhile. Been taking chemo and radiation. and it has taken some out of me. Doctor says it seems to be working, so there is that.
