Ingredients

  1. 5whole roma tomatoes (seeded)
  2. 1/4 cupheavy cream
  3. 1 tbsporganic flour (or carefully/lightly add more to desired thickness)
  4. 1 tbspbutter
  5. 1/4 cupSambuca
  6. 3 clovesgarlic
  7. 1/4 cupolive oil
  8. 1 tspsalt
  9. 1 tsppepper
  10. 4-5fresh basil leafs
  11. 1/2 tspsugar
  12. 1/2 tspred pepper flakes (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat oil and add garlic to saute pan, until translucent

  2. 2

    Cut tomatoes into quarter pieces

  3. 3

    Add tomatoes with juices to saute pan

  4. 4

    Add sugar, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes

  5. 5

    Cook 5-8 minutes

  6. 6

    Remove from heat, blend until smooth (I use a strainer over a fresh pot or bowl and press/scrape pulpy tomato mixture with a wooden spoon against strainer mesh - helps to remove seeds and tomato skins. Transfer strained tomato juices back to sauté pan)

  7. 7

    Add Sambuca, cream, and basil

  8. 8

    Cook for 5 min- adding flour and butter mixture to sauce, whisk until it thickens

  9. 9

    Add cooked pasta of choice to pan, saute for 1-2 min
