Steps

1 kg king prawns
2tbsp oil
1 onion thinly sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp Fennel seeds
2 - 3 whole green chilies slit halfway through
6 tomatoes liquidised or grated
1 tsp ginger garlic mix
Curry leaves
1 tbsp masala
1/2 tsp tumeric powder
Salt to taste
Black pepper - 2
Prani Moodley hot prawns
I deveined and cleaned prawns removed the heads and left just the shell on them and butterfly them in half . Then added lemon juice tsp masala, little tumeric, pinch salt and pepper , tsp ginger and garlic and 2 tbsp of butter to prawns to marinate .. leave covered in fridge for at least an hour
Then removed from fridge .. add tbsp oil to hot pan and place prawns flat in pan .. Cook for few mins on each side or just till the shell turns pink then remove and place aside
For the chutney add onions cinnamon sticks bay leaf and chilies to hot oil and let fry till onions are done then add in fennel seeds and ginger garlic and curry leaves fry for a min add masala and tomatoes salt and pepper . Cover lid and let cook until almost all the water dries up from the tomatoes
Serve with roti/naan bread or a savoury rice
