Steamed Hilsa in Mustard Sauce

Hilsa or "ilish" is considered to be the emotion of Bengal. It combines the sentiments of the people residing at either side of the partition of Bengal, that is, the Yeast Bengal (Bangladesh) and West Bengal. This is one such kind of a traditional preparation of Hilsa fish (popularly known as "ilish bhape" in Bengali) that will surely steal the heart of any Bengali Cuisine lovers.
Here, I have prepared it in a microwave oven. You may prepare it in gas oven as well.

Steps

In a mixing bowl, add the fish and mix it with salt and sugar.

Add the mustard paste, green chillies paste, poppy seeds paste, sugar and mix it well.

Add the mustard oil and the slitted green chillies. Mix it again.

Put the bowl (by covering with a lid) in the microwave oven, in full power for 3mins.

After 3 minutes, flip the faces of the fishes and again cook it inside the oven for another 3 mins.

Keep it inside the oven for a standing time of at least 1min.

Serve hot with steamed rice.
