Ingredients

20 minutes
4 servings
  1. 2-3 middle sizedbrinjals
  2. A fewgreen chillies
  3. 1 tbspn eacheach of turmeric powder, garam masala,tomato puree
  4. 2 tbsppoppy seed paste
  5. 1 tspmustard paste
  6. as neededMustard oil
  7. to tasteSalt and sugar

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Cut the brinjals into halves.Wash and sprinkle over salt sugar and turmeric powder.

  2. 2

    Heat one cup of mustard oil on a karai and fry the brinjal pieces golden brown. Remove from the karai and keep aside.Also remove half of the oil.

  3. 3

    In the remaining oil add together all the masala paste and powder and Stir fry.Add chopped chillies.

  4. 4

    When the masala starts smelling add water salt and sugar.

  5. 5

    Cook into a thick gravy adding brinjal piece s and keep the lid covered stirring the contents at times.

  6. 6

    Remove from the flame and serve hot with your favourite cereals or rice and roti.
