Ingredients

  1. 1 cupomena
  2. 1/4 cupoil
  3. 2tomatoes
  4. 1bulb onion-medium size
  5. 1 tbsginger/garlic paste
  6. salt

Cooking Instructions

    Select omena and set aside

  2. 2

    Boil water and pour some on the omena, using a spoon stir it carefully without breaking them

  3. 3

    Pour the remaining water and add some cold water to enable you clean the omena thoroughly using your hand. Make sure at this point you pick your omena with your hands and avoid reaching the bottom because of the soil found in the omena

    After that rinse with cold water and spread them out to dry

    After drying around 5/10 mins, heat oil in the saucepan. When hot put the omena and sprinkle the salt. Cook for some time then stir. Remember not to do it vigorously to avoid breaking them. add the onions and ginger/garlic paste at this point

    Cook for while, when the omena is crunchy add your finely chopped tomatoes until soft

  7. 7

    Remove from fire and serve hot with greens and ugali. Don't forget your lemon on the side
