Ingredients

  • 11/2 cupblack chickpeas (Kala chana)
  • 3onion sliced
  • 6garlic pod sliced
  • 1'' pcsginger sliced
  • 3green chill sliced
  • to tasteSalt
  • 3 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/4turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 3 tspcoriander powder
  • 3 cupswater
  • 5 tbspTo grind:- grated coconut
  • 1 tspfennel seeds
  • 1 tbspcoriander leaves
  • -1tbsp oilFor seasoning:
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 6-7curry leaves
  • 1 tspgaram masala powder
  • 1 1/2 tbspcoconut pcs

Steps

    Rinse and soak chhana in water for 8 hours or overnight.

  2. 2

    Drain the excess water and in pressure cooker add chhana, onion, garlic, ginger, green chill, chilli powder, haldi powder, coriander powder and salt.

  3. 3

    Add 3cups of water, pressure cook for 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    First keep in high flame and when first whistle comes, reduce flame to sim and cook for 30 minutes.

  5. 5

    Grind coconut, fennel, coriander leaves to a smooth paste adding little water. Keep aside.

  6. 6

    Open the pressure cooker and switch on the flame.

  7. 7

    Add the ground coconut nut paste to the curry and let it boil for 10 minutes.

  8. 8

    For seasoning-heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, when it starts to splutter, add coconut saute until it changes to slight brown.

  9. 9

    Add garam masala powder and curry leaves and add these seasoning to curry.

  10. 10

    Mix well and cook for few minutes and serve hot.
