Thotha means saabut tuvar cooked with same quantities of onion, oil and tuvar with added spices. Well in routine we don't add that much oil. It's served with bread or rice in city area while in villages it's served with bajra Rotla.

Thotha means saabut tuvar cooked with same quantities of onion, oil and tuvar with added spices. Well in routine we don't add that much oil. It's served with bread or rice in city area while in villages it's served with bajra Rotla.
Steps

Add oil in a pan. Once hot add bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon. Add mustard seeds and cumin. Once mustard crackles add saabut dry chillies and asafoetida.

Add onion greens and paste to it. Saute it for 2 minutes. Add ginger garlic paste. Add chopped green chillies.Saute it for a while and add tomato puree.

Cook it nicely. Add all basic spices to it and roast until oil starts releasing.

Add boiled tuvar. Mix nicely. Add water of boiled tuvar. Add around 2-3 cups of water.

Let it simmer on it's own on slow flame for 25-30 minutes.

Thotha is ready to serve. Enjoy with bread or plain rice.
