Ingredients

  1. 1 boxbutter golden yellow cake mix. Can make homemade cake also
  2. 1 cuppineapple juice from drained pineapples
  3. 1 cuppacked brown sugar
  4. 1 cansliced or chunked pineapple (see note)
  5. 1 jarmaraschino cherries drained
  6. 1 stickbutter
  7. ××× note×××
  8. Canuse crushed pineapple but drain well

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Heat oven to 350 degrees

  2. 2

I use iron skillet but cake pan will do. Round pan will make 2 cakes

  3. 3

Place stick of butter in skillet and place in oven to melt butter.

  4. 4

When melted, sprinkle brown sugar over butter and press down.

  5. 5

Place pineapple rings in a circle and fill up pan.

  6. 6

Place cherries in holes in pineapple.

  7. 7

Mix cake according to box directions but use reserved pineapple juice in place of water.

  8. 8

Pour cake batter over the top of pineapples evenly.

  9. 9

Place in preheated oven and bake until golden brown and toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  10. 10

When cake is done, flip out cake onto a plate or pan that is bigger than the pan.

  11. 11

Be careful when flipping out of pan. The sugar syrup is very hot and will burn you.

  12. 12

    Let cool and enjoy!
