Ingredients

  1. 2 cupbeetroot puree
  2. 11/2 tbspoil
  3. 1onion sliced thinly
  4. 1 1/2 cupbrown rice
  5. 1/2 cupdiced and blanched carrots
  6. 1 tspcumin seeds
  7. 2cloves
  8. 2big cardamom
  9. 2small cardamom
  10. 1 stickdalchini
  11. 1bayleaf
  12. 1/2 tspgaram masala
  13. 1/4 tspblack pepper powder
  14. 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  15. to tasteSalt
  16. 2 cupswater

Cooking Instructions

    Wash and soak rice in water. Keep them aside. In a heavy pan, heat oil and put cumin seeds to it and let them crackle. Add sliced onion and fry them till they become transculent. Put beetroot puree and cook it on slow flame stirring constantly. Add rice and cook for 2-3 minutes.

    Put whole spices, garam masala, red chilli, black pepper and salt. Add water and stir. Cook covered on low heat for 5-10 minutes. Stir in the blanched carrots and cook further till rice are done properly. Remove whole spices and serve hot.
