Ingredients

  1. 5 cupsall-purpose flour (about 625 grams)
  2. 1 cupmelted butter (about 225 grams)
  3. 1egg
  4. 1 tablespoonhoney
  5. as neededOrange blossom water,
  6. Pinchsalt
  7. Filling
  8. 3 cupsfinely ground peanuts (about 450 grams)
  9. 1 cupgranulated sugar (about 200 grams)
  10. Vanilla extract, to taste
  11. Honey

Steps

    Mix the flour with the melted butter, salt, egg, and honey. Gradually add orange blossom water and knead until you have a smooth dough. Divide the dough into 7 pieces and let them rest.

    Combine the ground peanuts, sugar, and vanilla extract. Add orange blossom water until the mixture holds together as a filling.

  3. 3

    Roll out the dough thinly. Layer four sheets, brushing each layer with melted butter. Spread the filling on top, then add the remaining three layers, brushing each with butter. Cut into pieces, top with whole peanuts, and bake. Once baked, pour honey over the baklava while it's still hot.
