Ingredients

30 minutes prep
8 servings
  1. 1 kgminced beef
  2. 2large onions
  3. 2 tinschopped tomatoes
  4. 1 packunsmoked bacon
  5. 1/2tube of tomatoe puree
  6. 2beef OXO cubes
  7. 4bay leaves
  8. 2-3 cmlow pile of oregano
  9. 2-3 cmlow pile of mixed Italian herbs
  10. 4-6garlic cloves
  11. 75 clbottle of wine (preferably Shiraz)

Steps

30 minutes prep
  1. 1

    Fry the onion and garlic in oil till brown

  2. 2

    Add minced beef. Sprinkle OXO cubes on top and mix well. Ensure beef is well separated.

  3. 3

    Add sliced bacon. Mix until all meat is cooked.

  4. 4

    Add chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, wine and herbs. Mix well

  5. 5

    Allow to simmer with the lid off for 30-60 minutes to reduce.

  6. 6

    Once sufficiently reduced (1-2 cm down the side of pan) put the lid on and allow to simmer for at least another 30 minutes, preferably an hour. The longer the better.
