Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 1Orange
  2. 3 glassWater for boiling
  3. Sugar syrup
  4. 3 tablespoonSugar
  5. 1/4 cupWater
  6. 2 tbspSugar for coating

Steps

  1. 1

    Take the peels of 1 big orange. Cut them into vertical strips.

    Add the peels in the boiling water. Use 2 glass water for boiling. Boil for 7 to 10 minutes. Water turns orange in colour.

    Remove the peels from the water and drain completely.

    In another bowl, boil a large glass of water. Add the drained peels.

    Boil the peels again for another 7 minutes.

    Remove the boiled peels and drain them completely for the second time.Boiling peels and discarding the boiled water takes away the bitterness from the peels. In a container, add 3 tablespoons Sugar and 1/4 cup water. Dissolve and let boil till syrup looks frothy.

    Add in the drained orange peels. Cover and cook the peels in low for 25minutes.

    The peels are soft and almost done. See that they don’t get burnt. Once syrup drained, take the sweetened peels out and cool them completely as shown.

    Take 2 tablespoons sugar in a bowl.Roll the cooled peels over the sugar. Sugar coat each peel. Keep them aside for few minutes.

    Homemade Orange candied peels are ready. Chop them and use in cakes and breads of your choice.
