Steps
- 1
Wash amlas thoroughly with water. Take a vessel with enough water to immerse the amlas completely into it. Place it on flame. Cover and let the water simmer. Once it starts simmering, drop the amlas right into it. Cover the vessel and let the amlas cook for 2-3 minutes until it turns tender. After that, turn off the flame and leave it covered as it is for a while. Then drain out the excess water from it and allow it to cool down completely.
- 2
Lift a amla and with the help of hand break it and discard it's seed. Separate it's edges and place them in a bowl. Similarly, prepare the rest of the amlas to make candies.
- 3
Add the sugar into the amlas. Cover the bowl and keep it aside as it is for 3 days so that the sugar melts completely and the amla absorbs the sugar syrup nicely.
- 4
After 3 days, strain out the amlas through a sieve. Spread them on a plate or a polythene sheet. Place it under the sun for 2 days so that it gets dried completely. Don’t dry it too much or else it will turn hard.
- 5
Add powdered sugar in the dries amla, candy. Mix it really well. Transfer it to a bowl. Amla candy is now ready.
