Ingredients

3 hours 20 minutes
3 servings
  1. 1/2 cuprice
  2. 1/2 cupTur dal
  3. 1/2 cupBengal gram
  4. 10dry chillies
  5. 1-1/2 tsppeppercorn's
  6. 1onion
  7. 2 cupSpinach (any Green's)
  8. 1/4 cupgrated coconut
  9. 1/2 tspAsafoetida
  10. 1 tspsalt
  11. 1/4 cupoil
  12. 6 cupswater for soaking rice and dal

Steps

3 hours 20 minutes
  1. 1

    Grind soaked rice and Tur dal (1 hour soaking time)with chillies,peppercorn's and little water. Add salt and Asafoetida and mix well.Let the ground batter rest for 2 hours.

    In a pan add oil and saute onion until translucent. Add spinch to it and saute for 2 minutes.Let it cool.

  3. 3

    Add the cooled mixture to the Adai batter and mix well. The batter has to be thick.

  4. 4

    Heat oil in a tava and flatten a round ball of Adai batter and cook for three to four minutes. Check the doness on both the sides of Adai.

  5. 5

    Serve Spicy Spinach Adai with coconut chutney, tomato chutney and jaggery.
