Farali Pattice is a popular fasting or a vrat dish.Mainly originated from state of Gujrat.The name itself tells it is a prepared for fasting.It is widely found in many sweet marts as a snack item.

It mainly consists of Potato as a key ingredients.The other side ingredients consists of groundnuts/peanuts,coconut,green chillies and the one of the most important ingredient i.e.Arrowroot powder.this arrowroot powder is used as a binding agent.One can also use Shingare ka Atta (Chestnut flour).
It is served with Spicy Peanut Chutney and Dahi/Curd.But if you are not on fast then it goes tasty with tomato ketchup also.

The process of preparing Farali Pattice is very easy and can be made easily in your kitchen.And mind,it tastes as fab as that we have eaten in our nearby snacks mart.

Ingredients

35 minutes
Make 12 Pattice
  • For Pattice Stuffing :
  • 1/2 cupboiled and smashed potatoes
  • 1/4 cupcoarsely grinded peanut powder
  • 2 tbspgrated coconut
  • 5-6green chillies
  • 1/2 inchginger
  • 1 tspsugar
  • to tasteRock Salt
  • Oil for frying
  • Ingredients :
  • For Pattice Covering :
  • 1 1/2 cupboiled and smashed potatoes
  • 5 tbsparrowroot powder
  • to tasteRock Salt
  • 1 tbspcooking oil

Steps

35 minutes
  1. 1

    For Making Pattice Stuffing :

    Boil the potatoes first.

    After boiling is done let the cool down.

    Peel off the skin and the smash the potatoes nicely.

    In a pan roast the peanuts nicely.

    Then coarsely grind the peanuts.(don’t make a fine powder)

    Grate the coconut.

    In a mixer grinder grind the green chillies and ginger to a fine paste.

    Now in a bowl add smashed potatoes,coarsely crushed peanuts,grated coconut,green-chilli and ginger paste,sugar and salt to taste.

    Mix everthing well.

    Make equal sized small balls of the above mixture.

    Your stuffing for pattice is ready

    In a bowl add smashed potatoes,arrowroot powder,oil and salt to taste.

    Mix everything well.

    Your covering for pattice is ready now.

  5. 5

    For Making Pattice Covering :

    Boil the potatoes first.

    Once the potatoes are cooked let them cool down.

    Peel off the skin from potatoes.

    Now smash the potatoes or grate them nicely.

    See that no lumps remain back or else it will create difficulty while making pattice.

    Take a small ball sized mixture of pattice covering.

    Flatten it a bit in a round shape puri with the finger tips of your hand.

    Now place the stuffing ball in the centre of the puri.

    Making of Farali Pattice :

    First keep oil for frying in a kadhai or a pan.

    Grease your palms with oil.

    Close the stuffing and give it a round shape.

    Put some arrowroot flour in a dish.

    Roll the pattice ball into the arrowroot flour evenly.

    In same manner prepare all the pattice.

    Put the pattice into the hot oil for frying.

    Fry the pattice on medium flame.

    Once the pattice turns golden brown remove them into a plate.

    Your Farali Pattice are ready to eat.

    Serve them hot with Spicy Peanut Chutney or Curd/Dahi or Tomato Ketchup.
