Steps
- 1
Note: In this recipe, the rice tends to turn out a bit sticky, which some may not prefer, but I can assure you the flavor is excellent.
- 2
In a saucepan, add the 3 cups of water and the bouillon cube. Heat over medium. (The water does not need to be purified; tap water is fine.) To help dissolve the bouillon, break it up in the water with the same utensil you'll use in step 3.
- 3
In another saucepan, add a little oil, then add the cup of rice. Heat over medium. Stir the rice constantly with a spoon, ladle, or spatula to prevent sticking.
- 4
After a while, the rice will start to turn golden and the bouillon will be fully dissolved in the water.
- 5
Once the bouillon water is almost boiling and the rice is lightly golden, carefully pour the bouillon water into the rice and cover the saucepan. NOTE: Be careful when pouring and stand back a bit, as it may splatter.
- 6
Once the rice is covered, let it cook until the water reduces. (No need to keep stirring.) Note: I like to add a 7.5 oz (215 g) can of mixed vegetables, but this is optional. You can add peas, corn, carrots, or leave the rice plain.
- 7
When the water has reduced to the level shown in the photo, turn off the heat. The water will continue to absorb.
- 8
That's it! The result should look like the main photo of this recipe. Hope you enjoy it. Good luck!
