Coarsely grind basmati rice then wash and soak it for ten minutes. Roast cashews and raisins in ghee and set aside.

Boil milk in a heavy bottom pan and add the rice,saffron and cook in medium flame

When rice is cooked well, add in sugar and stir well. Now dissolve custard powder in a tablespoon of milk and add it to the kheer

Cook on low flame until kheer thickens.

Add in cardomom powder,roasted cashews, raisins and serve
