Ingredients

40-45min
  1. forthe crunchy layers-
  2. 2 cupsMaida-2
  3. 2 tbspPure ghee -2
  4. as requiredWater with little cardamom dissolved for kneading-As required
  5. for the Paste:
  6. 1/4 cupMaida
  7. 4-5 tbspDesi Ghee
  8. for the sugar syrup:
  9. 11/2 cupsSugar
  10. 1 cupWater
  11. 1-2 podsGreen cardamoms
  12. few strandsSaffron
  13. 1 tbspRose water / Rose essence - 2-3 drops
  14. for stuffing :
  15. 250 gramsSweet mawa (u can use the store bought ready mawa)
  16. fewAlmonds chopped
  17. for Garnishing:
  18. handfulRose petals(fresh or dried)
  19. someOil for deep frying

Steps

  1. 1

    Bring water and sugar to a boil and add the saffron strands, split green cardamoms and allow it to simmer until it is thick. Switch off the gas and add the rose water or essence as mentioned.

    Now for the outer crispy layer, in a kneading bowl take Maida add the ghee and knead with the cardamom flavoured water to make a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for a while.
