Wash the sundakkai well and crush them using a pestle.This removes the extra seeds and bitterness from sundakkai.

In a pan boil the sundakkai just till it gets little soft.Dont over cook.Transfer it in a stainer.

In a pan dry roast udit dal,til and red chilly separately.After it cools grind it to a coarse powder.

In a pan pour sesame or til oil.Add mustard seeds and hing.After it splutters add curry leaves,turmeric powder.

Now add sundakkai and grinded powder.Add the powder according to your requirement.Add salt as per your taste.

Fry for about a minute.This is ready.

In a plate take cooked rice and after it gets little warm add the prepared sundakkai.Mix it gently.

Tasty sundakkai sadam is ready to eat.
