Ingredients

35-40 minutes
4 servings
  1. 2 cupsRice
  2. 1.5 cupKabuli Chana (white chickpeas)
  3. 2Carrot
  4. 100 gramsFrench beans
  5. 2Tomato
  6. 2Onion
  7. 5-6Green chilli
  8. half an inchGinger
  9. 10 clovesGarlic
  10. Spices:
  11. 4Cloves(lavang)
  12. to tasteSalt
  13. 2Cardamon (elaichi)
  14. 1 tspSugar
  15. half a cupRefined oil

Steps

35-40 minutes
  1. 1

    Soak the chole in water for overnight or at least 4 hours.

  2. 2

    Chop the vegetables in the desired shape.

  3. 3

    Heat a pressure cooker, add oil and sugar.

  4. 4

    Once sugar starts leaving fumes, add lavang and elaichi to it.

  5. 5

    Add the sliced onions, green chilies, minced ginger, and garlic. Saute and fry them.

  6. 6

    Next, add all the chopped vegetables and chole one after the other.

  7. 7

    Add salt and mix everything well. Saute the veggies for about two minutes.

  8. 8

    Now add rice and mix. Pour a consistent amount of water, just touching the top level of rice and veggies.

  9. 9

    Cover the lid of the cooker, and let it whistle out (3 to 4 whistles sufficient enough to cook well, however it may vary depending on the pressure cooker)

  10. 10

    Now switch off the gas flame and leave the cooker with it's lid closed as it is for about 10 to 15 minutes.
    Finally, remove the pressure of the cooker, give a light stir to the cooked rice and serve hot.
